It's also known as deulkkae, Korean perilla, wild coleus, Chinese basil, Perilla mint, or purple mint. Perilla leaves and oil are used in cooking. The leaves are used as a flavoring herb in soups, stews, and roasting. Perilla seed oil is used in Asian countries as an ingredient in foods such as salad dressings, seasonings, and dipping sauces. Its unique flavour is popular for some people.
